Celebrating New Sixth Form Centre at King Ecgbert School

We're very proud to announce the official opening of the stunning new Sixth Form building at King Ecgbert School. This modern, eco-friendly space, reminiscent of a university setting, boasts 15 classrooms, flexible study areas, and ample social spaces tailored to enrich the learning experience of the Sixth Form students.

Funded by the Sheffield City Council in response to the growing number of pupils in the main school, this innovative solution not only accommodates the expansion but also provides the Sixth Formers with a bespoke environment they can truly call their own.

Lessons are underway in the new classrooms, with students wholeheartedly embracing the fantastic study spaces meticulously crafted for them.

The feedback from the students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many likening the atmosphere to that of a university. They've expressed admiration for the tasteful decor and furniture, and above all, a profound sense of pride in their new surroundings. It's worth noting that the students played a pivotal role in shaping the internal aesthetics, from choosing wall colours to selecting funky furniture.

One standout feature of the new space is the breath-taking artwork adorning the walls, each piece created by the talented students.

To commemorate this monumental occasion, the school hosted a memorable opening ceremony, graced by the presence of the Lord Mayor of Sheffield and Lady Mayoress, along with representatives from R G Carter Construction, the architects, Sheffield City Council, and governors and trustees. Following inspiring speeches and a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests were invited to explore the magnificent new space and engage with student ambassadors, who eagerly shared their insights about the building.

As the school embarks on this exciting new chapter, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making this dream a reality. Together, we've created more than just a building; we've cultivated an environment where the students can thrive and excel.
