Each year, our Young Creatives programme brings together children and pupils from across our schools to showcase their artistic talent through a public art exhibition. This annual project gives young people the opportunity to develop their creative voice and see their artwork exhibited in a high-profile city venue. It reflects our trust’s commitment to providing meaningful cultural experiences that build confidence, ambition, and a sense of pride in their achievements.
Young Creatives is also an important part of our wider commitment to serving our communities. Each year, the exhibition raises funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, with every artwork auctioned to support vital services for children and families across the region. Thanks to generous bidders, partners and supporters, the project has raised significant sums while enabling our young artists to contribute to a cause that matters deeply to our city.
The impact is long-lasting, inspiring many of our children and pupils to pursue creative pathways and helping them recognise that their ideas, skills and stories have value in the wider world.
Our trust partners with Sheffield Theatres to deliver a rich programme of drama and storytelling across our primary schools on an annual basis. This work brings professional artists and educators into classrooms to support teachers, develop creative practice, and introduce children to high-quality arts experiences. The partnership gives our schools direct access to expertise that strengthens teaching in a subject where confidence and specialist training are often limited in primary settings.
The programme focuses on developing oracy, creativity, and confidence in our children. Through workshops, immersive storytelling, playmaking, and opportunities to perform in professional spaces, children learn to express themselves clearly, collaborate with others, and think imaginatively. These are skills that underpin academic progress, support emotional development, and help children understand the world around them. For many, it is also their first meaningful interaction with live theatre and cultural experiences in the city.
The impact of this work has been significant. Teachers report greater confidence in planning and delivering drama, and children consistently demonstrate improved communication, teamwork, and self-belief. Performances at the end of the year, created in collaboration with theatre practitioners, give families a powerful insight into their children’s achievements. By investing in the arts each year, we are widening access, strengthening our curriculum, and ensuring that creativity remains a core part of the educational experience in our trust.
We send home a family newsletter twice a year. This contains news and successes from our trust and all of our schools.
