Experience

Trustee at Mercia Learning Trust since 2021
Trustee for Northern Consortium (an international education charity) sine 2017 and for Blyth Cricket Club since 2014
30 years of leadership and management experience mostly from Higher Education and in the large-scale steel industry, but also as Managing Director of a successful spin-out company  
Currently works at the University of Sheffield as the Director of Global Engagement (looking after international student recruitment, global academic partnerships, study abroad and our Confucius Institute). Prior to this I was the Faculty Director of Operations (Engineering)
13 years (part-time) combined experience as a Director for three SMEs

Strengths

Substantial experience in the strategic leadership and operational management of large complex organisations in an international environment; often achieved through the direction, management and delivery of large, multi-faceted projects focused on change and new ways of working.

Determined and decisive, but coupled with good interpersonal skills and empathy to enable the building of strong relationships and teams.

Part of the design team for the construction of the Diamond building (a 20,000m2 engineering teaching facility at The University of Sheffield).
