King Ecgbert Secondary

King Ecgbert is an outstanding 11-18+ secondary school located on the fringe of Sheffield with approximately 1330 students. It was the original founding academy in 2013, is responsible for the Mercia Learning Alliance (Teaching School), was the first school in the region to be awarded the World Class Schools Quality Mark and is a Sport England TASS accredited school for elite athletes. Notable alumni include Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Joe Root. It has been high performing for several years so that GCSE outcomes are well above average, and Post 16 outcomes are in the top 5% of all providers nationally. It is heavily over-subscribed.

 

Nether Edge Primary

Nether Edge is an outstanding (2015) 3-11 primary school with approximately 450 students. It formed the original multi-academy trust partnership in 2015. It is located in a vibrant and multi-cultural community and is a key feeder to King Ecgbert and recently Mercia secondary school. It has been high performing for several years and as a result is over-subscribed. 

 

Totley Primary

Totley is an outstanding (2015) 3-11 primary school which formed the original multi-academy trust partnership in 2015. It is located on the fringe of Sheffield and is a key feeder into King Ecgbert secondary school. It has been high performing and over-subscribed for several years. It is involved in phased growth to become two-form entry, following major capital investment in a new KS2 extension completed in summer 2018.

 

Newfield Secondary

Newfield is a strongly good (2017) 11-16 secondary school with approximately 1000 students serving a community in the south of Sheffield. It has been on a rapid improvement journey since it was sponsored by the trust in 2015. Damian Hinds (Secretary of State for Education) in autumn 2018 referred to Newfield when celebrating the impact of academisation on school improvement. Outcomes in recent years have been well above average and as a result the school is over-subscribed.

 

Valley Park Primary

Valley Park is a rapidly improving 2-11 school with approximately 450 students serving a community in the south of Sheffield, and is a key feeder to Newfield School. It was sponsored in 2015 and since then its improvement trajectory (including outcomes at KS2) has probably been the strongest of any school in the region. 

 

Mercia Secondary

Mercia Learning Trust was awarded the responsibility to create a new 11-18+ secondary school in the south west of the city in 2016. Following the creation of a unique educational vision and the completion of a £20m building project; Mercia Secondary School successfully opened in September 2018 with its first year 7 intake. From the outset the school has been over-subscribed and is providing a compelling educational offer in a highly competitive school landscape.
